Brandon Carney

Co-Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer

Brandon Carney is the Co-Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Divergent Language Solutions, an international language service provider. He brings almost 20 years of executive experience having worked with global translation and interpreting companies.

Brandon currently focuses on the strategic growth of the company, key partner relationships, and the day-to-day operations of Divergent.

Prior to founding Divergent, Brandon established and oversaw the San Francisco office for Geotext Translations, a then industry leader in foreign language services for the legal community. Brandon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Philosophy from Gettysburg College.

Michael Stypa

VP & Global Head of Client Relations, London

Michael Stypa is an accomplished business executive specializing in international business development and client management who has worked in the United States, Germany, England, and Sweden. With over 17 years of experience, he is a veteran within the language service industry with expertise in legal, financial, insurance, and technical translations. He has been a key account manager to many of the most internationally renowned law firms, banks,  insurance companies, and other large enterprise corporations.

Michael’s capabilities exceed those of simple business development and account management. His entrepreneurial character and leadership qualities propelled him to being tasked early on in his career to relocate from the US to the UK to set up the first international office for Geotext Translations, a legal specialist translation company. His role quickly evolved with responsibilities expanding to hiring, training, office management, marketing, and setting strategy. Michael spearheaded substantial market growth in Europe, from a marginal 2% to nearly half of the company’s overall revenue making an acquisition by a market leader both possible and attractive.

Having experienced both the small business and large enterprise worlds, Michael has joined Divergent Language Solutions with a focus on truly personalized service where his personal touch, creativity, and positivity can have a direct impact.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in German Studies with a minor in Political Science at Rutgers University, is fluent in Swedish, and has a firm understanding of German.

Eddie Jacob

Director of Production

Eddie manages all project operations and production personnel firmwide. Eddie began his career in translation services in 2013, when he first gained experience in project management during his time with TransPerfect Translations. There he specialized in marketing and financial translation, overseeing projects for some of the highest profile Fortune 500 client accounts. Eddie was quickly recognized as a natural leader with inherent project management skills. He was soon charged with managing not only translation projects but client accounts as well, enabling him to directly interact with and advise clients on best practices to satisfy their specific needs. Eddie’s depth of experience in both sales and project management give him a unique insight into all aspects of the translation business.

Eddie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Peace and Conflict Studies from Colgate University.

Matt Zelak

Senior Project Manager

Matt started with Divergent in 2016 as a Junior Project Manager. His worth ethic and acute attention to detail has made him an invaluable part of the Divergent team and propelled him to his current position of Senior Project Manager. He is tasked with managing several of Divergent’s highest profile accounts with some of the world’s largest law firms and corporations. During his time at Divergent, he has spearheaded major improvements in efficiency and sought out every opportunity to improve processes to assist his peers in sharpening their focus on the nuances of each unique project.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies with a concentration in Arabic from Colgate University.

Brian Klunk

Client Services Director

Brian joined Divergent Language Solutions in 2019. In his role as Client Services Director, he is responsible for new and existing accounts, and partnership development. Brian most recently spent seven years with ALM media where he worked with legal media titles such as ‘The American Lawyer,’ ‘National Law Journal,’ and Law.com. His experience with the legal industry began with Euromoney/ Institutional Investor in New York City, launching finance and legal events in the U.S., Hong Kong, Moscow, and Dubai. After relocating to Northern California Brian worked within enterprise tech and the learning industry with C-level programs. His focus on customer success garnered him two President’s Club awards with ALM, and the opportunity to expand from traditional media and events into marketing services, demand generation, and custom services. Brian’s consultative approach and deep understanding of his clients’ needs continue to serve the legal community and aligns with Divergent’s commitment to service excellence.
